3 Reasons To Make Your Health A Priority

Is your health is your top priority? If you’re one of those rare people who can say yes, how fabulous! Most people these days are too busy ploughing all of their time and energy into their careers, running a household, family life and once in a while they might remember who they are if they gather a moment in between. Be honest and in your head list the top 3 priorities in your life right now. Your health and happiness should be right up there. Why?…

1. You deserve to be number one

You’re sitting there now pulling a funny face thinking, do I? Well I’ve got some news for you, YES! you absolutely do. We live in a world where its deemed selfish to put ourselves first, to ensure we are happy and fulfilled before we give out to others. It’s easy to get caught up in what everybody else is doing and what everyone else expects of us. Don’t you think it’s time to take charge and make you and your health and happiness a top priority? Is that really a scary thought?

2. You are valued

If you, like me run around and expel all your energy outwards with nothing left for you, you will burn out. Then, what good will you be to anyone else? How can you carry out your career effectively or support your friends and family? Most of all, what is that doing for your physical and mental health? It’s paramount to be aware of the impact of not truly treasuring your health and well being. It’s easy to take it for granted while we are still young. I did just that as i’m sure most young people reading this do also. I had to learn the hard way, having never made my health and happiness a priority. My vow in 2016 was to be a little more selfish, make time for me and take better care of my health and well being.

3. You can’t buy it back

After running around like crazy, living life in the super fast lane, my body said “NO MORE” and that was me. Laid up in a hospital bed having emergency hernia surgery followed shortly by major hip surgery. I clearly didn’t listen to my body and it forced me to stop and re-evaluate. My journey has allowed me the time to really deepen my gratitude for my health. I feel we are all guilty of taking it for granted until we are made to sit up and take note. This is where my passion began, to encourage everyone to make their health a top priority. Like a car, if we don’t service it regularly and fix it when required, it’s likely to break down. It’s just a matter of time.

“It’s not selfish to take care of yourself and make your health a priority. It’s fundamental” (H.E.Barrowcliffe)
